Prompt Ideas for Midjourney From Twitter: #002

The amount of AI image prompt ideas out there are staggering. I thought I could keep up but that is unfeasible. I enjoy looking at the prompt results to get canvas ideas for future projects.

There’s a saying people are amazing and that couldn’t be more truer when it comes to Midjourney.

I follow Heather Cooper on Twitter and she always amazes with her interesting challenges. She created the following image which I found intriguing so I wanted to see what results I would get.

Simply following her prompt : planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, in the style of aboriginal dot painting topographical realism, fluid lines and curves, tilt shift, light red and dark cyan, spiral group, volumetric, UHD, 8K.

The only thing I added was the aspect ratio –ar 16:9 at the end to give the wider image.

planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, in the style of aboriginal dot painting topographical realism, fluid lines and curves, tilt shift, light red and dark cyan, spiral group, volumetric, UHD, 8K.

This was the result from Midjourney. The results are interesting, still looks macro photography of marbles on a glass table.

At this point I thought let us see what happens when we reverse engineer the prompts. Take away some of the wording will have an impact, but what sort of impact?

The next prompt was : planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, in the style of aboriginal dot painting topographical realism, fluid lines and curves, light red and dark cyan, spiral group, volumetric, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

Retro-futuristic depiction of planets orbiting a star with Aboriginal dot painting

Removing the tilt shift description gives us the above image. Not sure if it looks like space or planets.

The next prompt: planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, fluid lines and curves, light red and dark cyan, spiral group, volumetric, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

When the text in the style of aboriginal dot painting topographical realism is taken away we get swirls and some more interesting variations. Some of the images remind me of extreme temperatures of smelting steel.

The next prompt: planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, light red and dark cyan, spiral group, volumetric, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

Removing the fluid lines and curves text. Again some of them remind me of a Pixar Movie type screen shot.

The next prompt: planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, light orange and violet, light red and dark cyan, volumetric, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

The text spiral group was removed. I have to say I like the top right hand planet.

The next prompt: planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, volumetric, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

Again interesting design choices from Midjourney.

This time the color prompts were taken away to see a more space result.

The last prompt: planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, UHD, 8K –ar 16:9 –style raw.

planets orbiting a star in the style of futuristic retro, UHD, 8K --ar 16:9 --style raw.

When the volumetric prompt is taken away we get a decent space galaxy image.

Serene planet amidst a vibrant galaxy

It’s interesting to see the results when you slowly peel back the prompts one by one. I may try the reverse in another article later on.
